At Substance I worked on the campaign for the HBO series TrueBlood. The title of the campaign was VILF, a take on the famous MILF (Mum I’d like to fuck”) acronym joke from the hit film American Pie and the project promoted the sexiness of the show.
Users were asked to vote on their sexiest vampire, out of a list of 10. Each vampire has their own gallery of images and description to help the user decide which is the sexiest vampire.
The lovely design was the result of a close collaboration with Ollie Cuthbertson. He was able to design the FLA’s created by the Gaia Framework while I was free to work on other areas. Hurrah!
The voting mechanic communication and security implemented a PHP REST API written by the hero which is Neil Young which passed back to the Flash Client results in JSON format. The API includes security features to stop malicious attacks manipulating the results.
To build to project I took advantage of the Gaia Framework which enables developers to quickly create feature rich Flash websites. Using this framework things like the back and forward button in the browser become useful once more when viewing a Flash website. The project was also voted Website of the Week by The Raygun Magazine. Thanks Guys!
